Gelabert finishes sixth on first day of Andorra TrialGP

Honda Montesa has completed the opening day of the TrialGP of Andorra, the second round of the 2026 TrialGP World Championship, held in Sant Julià de Lòria. Miquel Gelabert approached the event aiming for the top positions on a demanding and technical course for the premier class.

In Race 1, he started with a positive feeling on the first section, although the subsequent parts of the course proved more difficult, forcing him to take a more conservative approach. Gelabert responded well late on, regaining his pace and confidence, but ultimately finished seventh with 31 penalty points.

In Super Pole, he also had a difficult start, failing to complete the first section, which meant he was one of the first out for the second lap. In the Final, Gelabert again demonstrated competitiveness from the outset, tying for second place after the first section. Although he seemed to be maintaining good momentum by Zone 3, he ultimately incurred a series of points, which dropped him out of contention for a podium finish. He ended Race 2 in fourth place.

In the combined standings for the day, Miquel Gelabert finished in sixth position, closing a positive opening day of competition in Andorra. Tomorrow, the Honda Montesa rider will take on the second day of the TrialGP of Andorra with the aim of continuing to make progress and staying in the fight for the leading positions.

“It was a difficult day, but I think we can take some positives into tomorrow. On the first lap, I struggled to find my rhythm and we made some mistakes that cost us quite a lot. In the second part of the day, we had some ups and downs that prevented me from fighting for the podium positions. It’s not the result we were looking for, but tomorrow we have another opportunity to improve, make fewer mistakes and fight to be higher up.”

“Today we were one of the first riders out, so we didn’t have many references. On the first lap, we finished seventh after making a few too many mistakes, and that made him lose a bit of confidence. It was difficult for us to recover, although on the second lap we improved in some areas and that allowed us to get closer to the podium positions. Even so, we made a couple of mistakes that we shouldn’t have. That’s racing — it’s tough, especially here in Andorra. Tomorrow we will try to do better and fight for a good result.”
