Gelabert ends demanding Day 2 in Andorra with fourth place

The Honda Montesa team finished the second round of the 2016 TrialGP World Championship, held in Sant Julià de Lòria, on Sunday. After a challenging first day, Miquel Gelabert was aiming to improve his feeling with the bike and get back into contention for the top positions.

In Race 1, the Honda Montesa rider made progress compared to Saturday, appearing more comfortable from the start. Gelabert managed the sections well and remained competitive in a demanding race, finishing the first part of the day in fourth position. In the Super Pole, he set a good time, although a one-second penalty affected his starting position for the second lap.

Race 2 once again demanded the maximum from the RTL Electric rider, who had to work hard from the very beginning to stay in contention. Despite some difficulties along the course, he kept pushing and managed to stay close to the podium positions. In a final marked by close competition and time constraints, Gelabert continued to fight until the end for third place with Jack Peace. In the Super Final, he again showed his ability to react and finished the day in fourth position.

In the combined standings for the day, Gelabert finished in fourth place, tied on points with Peace, who finished third. The Honda Montesa rider remains fifth in the overall standings. The next event on the calendar will be the Italian TrialGP, which will take place from June 19th to 21st.

“I’m happier today because I rode much better than yesterday. I also felt mentally strong, which was important after a difficult Saturday, in which I struggled to find my rhythm and made too many mistakes. We changed our mindset from the start and fought together as a team. We were battling for third place all day, and in the end, Jack did a great job to secure the podium. We were very close in terms of points, and we’ll keep fighting in Italy.”

“Today I saw a good reaction from Miquel. After a difficult Saturday, it was important for him to regain confidence and change the dynamic, and from the start he looked more confident on the bike. He rode with more decisiveness and was in the fight all day. There are still things to improve, but we're happy with the feeling and the good work of the team. Now it's time to continue in the same way in Italy.”
